Does Basaltina need to be sealed?
No. Basaltina is effectively non-porous and needs no sealer. It is also UV stable and freeze-thaw resistant, so it can be used outdoors.
What is Basaltina best used for?
Countertops, full-height backsplashes, shower and feature walls, fireplace surrounds and outdoor kitchens. Large-format sheets mean far fewer joints.
Can I buy Basaltina if I already have a fabricator?
Yes. Come to the gallery, tag the porcelain slab you want, and your fabricator collects it. We also sell directly to fabricators, builders and remodelers across the Milwaukee area on wholesale terms.

What Actually Drives Countertop Cost
We do not publish slab prices — stone is priced by the individual slab, and a number on a web page would be misleading more often than helpful. What we can do is explain honestly what moves the number, so you can read any quote you receive.
What determines the cost of a stone countertop?
Four things, roughly in order of impact: the material and its rarity (a common granite and an exotic quartzite are not in the same range), slab size and how efficiently your layout nests into it, edge profile and cutout complexity, and fabrication and installation labour. Buying the slab and the fabrication separately - as you do with a slab supplier - makes each of those visible instead of bundled.
Why do quotes differ so much between shops?
Usually because they include different things. Some quotes bundle material, fabrication, edges, cutouts, tear-out and installation; others price them separately. Ask what is included, whether the slab is in stock or on order, and how remnants are handled.
Is a bigger slab more economical?
Often yes. Jumbo slabs reduce seams and can yield more usable countertop per slab, which matters on large islands. But if your layout does not need the extra size, standard slabs waste less.
How can I keep countertop costs predictable?
See the actual slab before you commit, confirm it is physically in stock (not on order), and get the fabricator to template from the real slab. The most common cost surprises come from material substitutions and layout changes after the fact, not from the slab price.
