What is Carrara White quartz?
Carrara White quartz is an engineered quartz made to reproduce the look of Carrara marble — a soft white to light grey background with fine, feathery grey veining. It is not marble. It is roughly 90 percent ground natural quartz bound in resin, which makes it non-porous, stain resistant and unaffected by the acids that etch real Carrara. The visual trade is that the pattern repeats across slabs, where genuine marble never does. People choose it for bathrooms and kitchens that want the Carrara look without the maintenance.
Is Carrara quartz the same as Carrara marble?
No. They look similar and are frequently confused, but they behave completely differently. Carrara marble is a natural stone: porous, needs sealing, and etches when it meets lemon juice, wine or vinegar — a dull mark that is chemical damage rather than a stain. Carrara quartz is manufactured, non-porous, needs no sealing and does not etch. Marble is the one that develops a patina over years; quartz stays as it started.
