Cosmos

Cosmos is a granite from Brazil with a black ground crossed by wavy bands of cream, gold and tan that run across the slab in layers. It has strong, flowing movement, so the pattern at one end of a slab can look quite different from the other.

 Characteristics

  • Look: Black, cream and gold-tan bands with scattered grey-silver flecks in the darker areas. The bands are wide in some places and thin in others, which gives the stone a layered, moving look. It is used for kitchen countertops and islands, vanity tops, fireplace surrounds and feature walls.
  • Layout: Decide with your fabricator which way the bands should run on each piece; on an island they are often run along its length. Pair it with plain cabinets and a simple backsplash, since the stone already carries a lot of pattern. Like other granites it is porous, so have it sealed after fabrication.
  • Because the pattern changes so much from slab to slab, choose from the actual slab rather than a photo or a small sample.

    Cosmos questions

Is Cosmos in stock as a full slab?

Cosmos is not currently stocked; it is available to order. Call 414-998-0404 for lead time, or check live inventory for a similar colour available now.

Does Cosmos need to be sealed?

Yes. Cosmos is natural stone and porous, so your fabricator applies a penetrating sealer after installation and it is refreshed periodically. Granite tolerates heat well; a trivet under very hot pans still protects the sealer and prevents thermal shock at the edges.

What is Cosmos best used for?

Kitchen countertops, islands, bar tops, outdoor kitchens and fireplace surrounds. Granite's heat tolerance makes it a common choice near the cooktop.

Can I buy Cosmos if I already have a fabricator?

Yes. Come to the gallery, tag the granite slab you want, and your fabricator collects it. We also sell directly to fabricators, builders and remodelers across the Milwaukee area on wholesale terms.

Where does Cosmos granite come from?

Cosmos is a natural granite quarried in Brazil.

What colors are in Cosmos granite?

Cosmos has a black ground crossed by wavy bands of cream, gold and tan, with scattered grey-silver flecks in the darker areas. The bands are wide in some places and thin in others.

Is Cosmos a company or a stone?

On this page Cosmos is the name of a natural granite color, not a company or brand. Other businesses use the Cosmos name; this page is only about the stone.
